Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from an art therapy session?

In an art therapy session, you’ll have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and emotions through creative expression. Using various art materials and techniques, we’ll work together to uncover and understand your experiences. The process is designed to help you connect with your inner self, gain insights, and foster personal growth.

How many sessions should I plan for?

I recommend starting with a minimum of 6 sessions. This allows us to build a meaningful therapeutic relationship, explore your concerns in depth, and track your progress over time. However, the number of sessions can be adjusted based on your individual needs and goals.

Are the sessions conducted in person or online?

All sessions are conducted online via video conferencing through Jane. This format provides flexibility and convenience, allowing us to connect from anywhere. If you’re in the Victoria area and prefer in-person sessions, let me know, and we can discuss possible arrangements.

What types of issues can art therapy help with?

Art therapy can help with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief, by providing a creative outlet for expression and exploration. It is also beneficial for managing hormonal changes, navigating life transitions, and enhancing self-esteem and personal growth.

How do I know if art therapy is right for me?

A free 15-minute consultation is available to help us determine if art therapy is a good fit for you. During this brief call, we’ll discuss your goals and concerns, and you can get a sense of how my approach might support you. Feel free to reach out to schedule your consultation.

Will my insurance cover the cost of art therapy sessions?

If you have extended health benefits, please check with your insurance provider or employer to see if they cover services provided by a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC). Many plans offer coverage for therapeutic services.
